If you’ve ever heard Gwyneth Paltrow talk, then you know she often believes she has it all figured out. And who knows, maybe she does?
The 51-year-old actress and Goop founder talked to PEOPLE this week and claimed her two kids, 17-year-old Apple and 19-year-old Moses, never really had rebellious teenage years.
And she believes it’s because of her parenting style.
I have been so lucky with my teens. We had, probably when Apple, I would say, was about 13, we had a year where I was like, ‘Oh wow, okay,’ but actually my kids have been, I kind of didn’t have the horrible teen thing, I think because I’ve always been very, very honest with my kids and I think I’ve always empowered them with a little bit more freedom and responsibility than they thought they were ready for.
She went on to talk about how she didn’t give her teens a curfew. Instead, she told them there’s no reason to give them one unless they do something to give her a reason to.
I really loved having teenagers. I mean, Apple’s in her last year of her teenage years now, which is so crazy to me that she’ll be 20 on her next birthday. I don’t quite know how that happened.
You know, Paltrow gets a lot of hate for her affluent ways, but she does seem to be a pretty great parent. As does her ex-husband, Chris Martin.
