Sylvester Stallone was on the podcast Unwaxed this week, which is hosted by his two daughters, 27-year-old Sophia and 25-year-old Sistine.
He was really open during the chat and reflected on a period in his life where he was down in the dumps and embarrassed to be a father.
“I was embarrassed to be your father,” he admitted as he talked about how he was ashamed to be out of work for so long. This was back in the early 2000s, well after the success of Rocky and Rambo, and well before the success of some his newer work with the Creed franchise and The Expendables.
I felt so worthless. You didn’t even really know what I did for a living. He just wanders around looking depressed. I thought I was definitely done. The phone wasn’t ringing. When the good times go away, that’s when you find out your family is so important. The ship sailed on me, it was pretty bad. And I realized that people you thought were your friends are not your friends.
His daughters remembered how he’d just sit and watch movies all day long during that rough period in his life.
Thankfully, he was able to get himself out of it and things are going well for the entire Stallone family. The now 77-year-old actor also shares a third daughter, 21-year-old Scarlet, with his current wife, Jennifer Flavin.
You can actually watch their family dynamic on their reality show, The Family Stallone, which debuted on USA/Paramount Plus earlier this year.
