As some of you may know, 39-year-old actress Gina Rodriguez welcomed her first baby last year with her husband, Joe LoCicero.
They welcomed a little baby boy named Charlie. Earlier this month, they celebrated Charlie’s first birthday. She talked about the special day on Jimmy Kimmel Live, revealing they had a “rager” and she regrets none of it.
She knows some people would think the party was over-the-top, but in an interview with PEOPLE this week, Gina explained why she felt the need to throw such an extravagant party…
This first year…you know, last year this week we were in the NICU [neonatal intensive care unit] because my son had a little more difficult experience after coming out. And to think now…of course now I’m going to cry. To think now that we have this healthy, vivacious, loving, so loving little boy…there’s so much gratitude in the journey. It’s laughs and tears.
Aw. We completely understand. Heck, throw the little guy a second birthday! Give him a birthday every month! He deserves it.
No word on if Gina and Joe plan to have another baby in the future, but for right now, it looks like they are a happy little family.
