Let’s be honest here, women do the majority of the heavy lifting when it comes to bringing children into the world. They basically have to share their body with another human for nine months, and then they have to go through the painful experience of childbirth.
It’s risky, painful and can completely change your body.
For men? The process is much easier, but for some reason, the baby still takes their last name. It’s tradition. It’s been this way for centuries, but that doesn’t mean it makes sense.
Kelly Osbourne and her partner Sid Wilson welcomed their first baby together just 15 months ago. They named their son Sidney and the little guy took on his father’s last name. But Kelly was NOT happy about it.
On a recent episode of her podcast, she revealed the dispute over her baby’s last name was the biggest fight she’s ever had with Sid.
It’s the biggest fight me and my baby’s father have ever ever ever had, and probably ever ever will. I wanted our son to have both of our last names, and he wouldn’t let me. We had a huge fight. I feel that I was forced into doing something I didn’t wanna do and I can never ever ever forgive him for that, but we can move on. So right now my son doesn’t have a double-barreled last name, but after lots of eye-opening conversations and some couples therapy, he has seen the light.
She explained they’re going through the process to legally change their son’s last name. It looks like he’ll become Sidney Wilson-Osbourne.
They say pick your battles, and we personally think Kelly picked a good one.
