Chances are, you’ve heard about the Netflix roast of Tom Brady. It’s been a long time since such a public figure was roasted by some of comedy’s best roasters.
There were some pretty NSFW jokes told at the roast, and a lot of jokes focused on Brady and his family, particularly his failed marriage to Gisele Bundchen.
During an appearance on the latest episode of ‘The Pivot Podcast,’ the 46-year-old father of three admitted he didn’t like how the roast impacted his children.
I loved when the jokes were about me I thought they were so fun. I didn’t like the way that affected my kids. So it’s the hardest part about, like, the bittersweet aspect of when you do something that you think is one way, and then all of a sudden you realize I wouldn’t do that again because of the way that affected actually the people that I care about the most in the world. I didn’t see the full picture when agreeing to it.
Even though Brady made it clear to all the comedians that jokes about his kids were off limits, there were still jokes made about their mom, which had to be difficult for them.
I wanted to do the roast because the guy Jeff Ross became someone that I knew, and then you just don’t see the full picture all the time. So I think it’s a good lesson for me as a parent. I’m going to be a better parent as I go forward because of it, and at the same time, I’m happy everyone who was there had a lot of fun.
As mentioned above, Brady has three kids in total. He shares two of them with Bundchen (14-year-old Benjamin and 11-year-old Vivian) and he has a 16-year-old named Jack with Bridget Moynahan.
