The ‘American Idol‘ season finale went down this past weekend, and Idol judge Lionel Richie walked the red carpet beforehand and fielded some questions from reporters.
One reporter asked about his daughter, Sofia, who is currently pregnant with her first child.
She’s having a complete nervous breakdown. I keep saying, ‘Calm down. When the baby comes, then your nervous breakdown will start, you know.’
For those who don’t know, Sofia is expecting this first baby with her husband, Elliot Grainge. They’ve known each other for most of their life, thanks to Lionel being close friends with Elliot’s father, Sir Lucian Grainge.
Lionel also talked about how blessed his life is right now…
I mean, my life is so full right now. I mean, 39 years ago was We Are the World: The Greatest Night in Pop, and now here it is on Netflix and is doing amazing, number one around the world. And then we’ve got my Sofie — my baby’s now having a baby. What the heck is going on?
He’s also set to go on tour with Earth, Wind & Fire this summer, so there’s no slowing down now that Idol has ended.
Hard to believe he’s 74-years-old!
