Tina Knowles, the proud mother of the superstar known as Beyonce, spoke to Vogue recently about what it was like raising Beyonce.
The 70-year-old, who is also a mother to Solange, remembered how shy Beyonce was when she was a kid.
Beyoncé, she was very shy and she got bullied a bit but the day that she stood up for someone — she didn’t stand up for herself she stood up for them. I’m getting emotional talking about it. I was just, I couldn’t have been more proud of her.
Sometimes that’s what it takes for kids to find their voice. They have to stand up for someone else getting bullied before they’re able to stand up for themselves.
Tina noted that all kids are different, remembering that Solange was more outgoing from an early age.
Each child is different! But all so special. I believe kids are born with their personalities. Learn their personalities and respect the individuality. Never compare the negatives , always praise the positive differences and pay attention to the things that you can brag on about them. They love it and it encourages positive behavior.
Wise words from a momma who helped raise some pretty incredible women.
