The rumors are true. 31-year-old Gypsy Rose Blanchard is going to be a mom. She shared the surprising news on her YouTube channel on Tuesday, July 9.
She titled the video, “I’m Pregnant, My Journey So Far” and in the video, she revealed the father of this baby is her boyfriend, Ken Urker. She met Ken while she was in prison. They became pen pals and even got engaged.
They ended up splitting, and as some of you may know, Blanchard married a man by the name of Ryan Anderson instead, who she also met while in prison. Sadly, once she was released from prison, she and Anderson didn’t work out in the real world and they got a divorce.
And if you know nothing about Gypsy and you’re like, “Wait, why was she in prison?” Well, she was a victim of Munchausen by proxy by her mother throughout her childhood. After years of abuse, she convinced her boyfriend at the time to help kill her mother, because she believed that was the only way she could escape.
She was sentenced to 10 years in prison and ended up only serving seven years. She was released last year and already has a reality show and a pretty successful social media presence.
In her pregnancy reveal video, she acknowledged some people probably feel she’s not ready to be a mother…
I know that there are going to be people who feel like I’m not ready to be a mother, and I don’t know if anyone’s really ready to be a mother. All the things that I wanted in a mother, I want to give to this baby. I am a mother now, I am happy, and I just want to be a good mother for my child. I want to be everything my mother wasn’t.
We wish her all the luck in the world. Hopefully she’s going to therapy and still getting the help she needs. She’s expected to give birth in January 2025.
