Al Roker’s 37-year-old daughter, Courtney, gave birth to her first baby girl back in July of 2023. It’s been an exciting time for the famous weatherman, as this is his first time being a grandparent.
And during a recent discussion on Today, he revealed the transition from parent to grandparent has been a little challenging. He’s had to take a step back and not give Courtney too much parenting advice.
Look, our kids have to find their path. Everybody’s parental style is different. So, you kind of let them find their way. You can gently suggest things and your kids can take that and use it or not. And once you’ve given that advice, you have to let it go, because they have to find their way.
Such great advice. Grandparents have to remember it’s a different time as well. A parenting technique or style that worked 30 years ago might not be as effective today.
At the end of the day though, Roker has all the faith in the world in his daughter and his son-in-law…
I’m very proud of my daughter and my son-in-law. They’re terrific parents and they’ve raised this, so far, incredibly happy baby who’s just very content, and very adventurous when it comes to food and just has a very, very lovely, happy disposition. So it’s like, ‘Well, whatever you’re doing, you’re doing a great job.
How nice! Roker seems like such a sweet guy. We’re sure he’s an awesome grandparent.
