Los Angeles Dodger star Freddie Freeman and his wife, Chelsea, have had a scary past few weeks with their 3-year-old son, Maximus.
Last week, while playing a game against the Giants, Freeman learned that Chelsea had to rush their son to the emergency room. He was in severe pain and couldn’t stand or walk.
Freeman rushed to the hospital the second after the final out was recorded, and that’s when he learned his son had been diagnosed with transient synovitis, which is a rare condition known as irritable hip. Children often get it after a viral infection, which Max had a couple weeks ago.

Chelsea went on her Instagram to ask her followers for prayers…
Please say a prayer for Maximus. Dr says he developed transient synovitis from the viral infection he had at All-Star Week. Day 3 of not being able to sit, stand or walk… 🙏 Any tips to help toddlers take/keep down medicine? He is usually good at taking medicine but he keeps spitting it out. 😢
She also revealed that he had to get an IV at the hospital because he was dehydrated and lethargic. They also ran lots of tests and blood work to make sure nothing else was going on.
Thankfully, they didn’t find anything, so doctors believe it’s just irritable hip, which will typically resolve itself with rest and pain management.
Feel better, Max!
