Chrissy Teigen doesn’t often get serious on her social media. She likes to keep things fun and light, but this week, she had to address a fairly serious issue.
You see, earlier this week, she posted the photo you see below to her Instagram account.
Several followers noticed that Miles was wearing a monitor for type-1 diabetes on his arm. Chrissy didn’t talk about it in the original post, but after getting so many messages and comments, she decided to address her 6-year-old son’s health.
Miles had his arm up, and soooo many of you reached out to say the most beautiful and incredible words I have ever witnessed on this platform. You noticed his type-1 diabetes monitor and extended so much love and encouragement in every way possible.
She revealed that doctors discovered Miles had diabetes while he was in the hospital a few weeks ago. Apparently, he was battling a “terrible case” of shigella, an intestinal infection caused by bacteria in food or water. He and several other kids got it while at summer camp.
But while he was in the hospital, doctors noticed something off in his bloodwork. They did more tests and diagnosed him with type-1 diabetes.
We learned he is in the “honeymoon period” of a lifetime of T1. Last night we gave him his first shot of insulin and here we go! A different, new world for us and we are certainly learning so much on the fly.
She also said they ran into Nick Jonas at the Olympics, and he offered them some much needed advice. “He was so kind to Miles.”
