If you didn’t know, Ashton Kutcher shares two kids with his wife, Mila Kunis. They have a 9-year-old daughter named Wyatt and a 7-year-old son named Dimitri.
During a recent Throwbacks podcast episode, the 46-year-old actor was asked how he felt about being a girl dad.
I don’t know if it equates to being a girl dad or it equates to her being my first, but when I had my daughter, I had never been so in love in my entire life. And Mila and I talked about it a lot. Like, I’ve never loved anyone this much. Ever.
But because he has both one girl and one boy, he has noticed that he parents them differently, and he partially blames toxic masculinity for that.
My son, I’m always like, ‘Yeah, let’s go for it.’ Like yesterday, we’re popping wheelies on a bicycle in the driveway or it’s like, ‘See if you can jump down four stairs,’ My daughter, I just want to protect her. When my son cries, I’m like, ‘All right, what did we learn? Let’s move on.’ But when my daughter cries, my heart is out of my body and I can’t put it back in.
It’s worth noting that he claims he notices something similar in his wife. He says she’s super strict on their daughter, but a “gushball” with their son.
“I think we balance each other that way,” he stated.
Perhaps they do balance each other, but it’s still worth keeping track of! You don’t want to create a dynamic where one kid only feels comfortable going to one parent for help or advice.
