It’s the end of an era.
After 17 years, Hoda Kotb is bidding farewell to anchoring the ‘Today‘ show. She shared a letter she wrote to the staff of the show, explaining how painful this decision is.
I know I’m making the right decision, but it’s a painful one. And you all are the reason why. They say two things can be right at the same time, and I’m feeling that so deeply right now. I love you and it’s time for me to leave the show. My broadcast career has been beyond meaningful, a new decade of my life lies ahead, and now my daughters and my mom need and deserve a bigger slice of my time pie.
The plan is for her to finish out 2024 in her same position. Come 2025, she’ll no longer be anchoring, but she will remain on staff. We don’t know what exactly that will look like, but we’re assuming she’ll probably tape some special segments or come into guest anchor once or twice a month.

If you’ve been following Hoda’s home life, this decision isn’t exactly surprising. She recently moved out of NYC and into a suburb of New York. She expressed her desire to have a proper home for her daughters. A place where they have a yard and a neighborhood they can play in.
It’s been such a long road for Hoda, and we got to see most of her story unfold.
After a breast-cancer diagnosis in 2007 left her unable to conceive, she adopted a daughter, Haley Joy, in 2017. The TV personality’s family grew in 2019 with the adoption of her second daughter, Hope Catherine. She shares the two girls with her ex-fiancé Joel Schiffman.
She will be missed!
