‘This Is Us‘ star Sterling K. Brown and his wife, Ryan Michelle Bathe are about to launch their new podcast titled, We Don’t Always Agree.
They talked to PEOPLE this week to promote the podcast, and of course the topic of parenting came up. They share two sons together, 12-year-old Andrew and 8-year-old Amare.
During the conversation, Sterling and Ryan revealed they try their best to follow the parenting rules they agreed upon, but they have occasionally broke them. For example, they both agreed to let their kids find their own way in life. They just want to “shepherd them to become the best version of who they already are.”
But Ryan had a little hiccup with this rule when she tried hard to make their son a dancer…
Ryan tried to make [our son] into a dancer for a hot second. He’s a very good dancer, a very good dancer. And he looked around in ballet class and he’s like, ‘I’m the only dude. I’m out.’
To be fair, Ryan doesn’t have any regrets, “It was so sweet, and he was so good. He was like the best… He plays soccer now,” she revealed.
They also talked about how they haven’t always agreed on the consequences for their kids when they get in trouble.
Ryan called out Sterling, talking about how he used to put their first-born outside when he acted up.
We used to have this door and it wasn’t outside, outside, so we had a little backyard area, and he would close the door and be like, ‘When you’re ready to come in and be with the family, you can.’ Andrew would just freak out. I was like, ‘This is trouble.’ And so he was like, ‘Okay, I’ll find another way.’ I was like, ‘Please find another way. Do not put this baby outside.’
LOL! We’re so glad she put an end to that… yikes!
