32-year-old actor Barry Keoghan’s fame has increased the past year or two, with starring roles in hit movies like ‘Saltburn‘ and ‘The Banshees of Inisherin‘.
And with more fame comes more scrutiny.
For those who don’t know, Barry welcomed a baby boy named Brando two years ago with his ex-girlfriend, Alyson Sandro. As a side note, we can only hope Brando took his father’s last name, cause, uh, Brando Sandro?
Anyway, Barry doesn’t often post photos of his son on his social media accounts, and this has led some people to falsely accuse him of being a deadbeat dad. But during a recent episode of ‘The Louis Theroux Podcast‘ Barry hit back at those claims.
There’s a lot online. If I didn’t have tough skin or the strength, I wouldn’t be sitting here. Of course, it’s going to affect me being a father when I had no blueprint to take from. People just read that [as] laziness and go, ‘Oh, that’s no excuse to be an absent father.’ I’m not an absent father. People love to use my son as ammunition or whatever, and it kind of leads me to stop [posting him.] The more attention I’ve gotten lately and the more in the public I’ve become, the less I’ve posted about my child, because I don’t think it’s fair to put my child online.
We certainly can’t blame him for that. You can’t win online. If he started posting his son more, you’d just have people accuse him of using his son as a prop.
Barry made it clear people have no idea what goes on in his personal life.
Just the audacity of some people, man, it sickens me. It makes me furious. These people have no indication of what I’m like as a dad I ain’t going to feed them more material…they don’t deserve that.
