Tom Brady made playing professional football look easy for many years, but parenting? Well, that’s a completely different ball game.
During an appearance at the Fortune Global Forum in New York City, the 47-year-old NFL star spoke about the challenges of being a father to his three kids: John “Jack” Edward Thomas, 17, who he shares with his ex Bridget Moynahan, and Benjamin Rein, 14, and Vivian Lake, 11, who he shares with ex-wife Gisele Bündchen.
Being a parent is probably the hardest job all of us have. And we screw up a lot and I’ve screwed up a lot as a parent. I don’t want to seem like I’m some expert in parenting, because I’m certainly not that.
He went on to talk about how he’s tried his best to be “dependable and consistent” for them, as well as supportive of what they want to do in life.
Brady then gave a special shoutout to his own parents for supporting him when he was a backup quarterback in high school…
They never said, ‘Man, don’t do that. It’s gonna be too hard. Let’s do something different. Let’s think about another backup plan,’ They kinda said, ‘You know what? Go for it. Whatever you wanna be, go for it.’ And that’s probably my parenting style.
Can you imagine if they encouraged him to quit? The world would be without one of the greatest QBs to ever play the game of football.
Encourage your kids to chase their dreams!
