Amy Adams welcomed her one and only daughter, Aviana, 14 years ago with her husband, Darren Le Gallo. And at the time, she didn’t know just how much her life would change.
During an interview on The Drew Barrymore Show, the 50-year-old actress revealed she had no energy for being fake or trying to please everyone after giving birth to her daughter.
I think my awareness of how much I changed just took time, because I was trying so hard to please others and trying so hard to just do everything that I could and be everything to everybody all the time. I think it just exhausted myself. And at some point, I had no more energy for anything but honesty.
Ain’t that the truth! When you’re a parent, your priorities change completely. Family comes first and gets 90% of your energy, so you gotta really be selective with the remaining 10%.
She said it took her a bit of time to realize she needed more help than she was getting previously…
At some point I was able to speak the truth and to really ask for what I needed, communicate that maybe I don’t have it all under control and maybe I need a little bit more support than I thought I did. Because I, like I said, I changed.
We’re glad to hear she’s getting the support she needs now!
