Ryan Reynolds, perhaps best known for starring in the Deadpool franchise, doesn’t know if he’d ever make a fourth installment of the franchise.
The third film in the franchise came out in the summer of 2024 and made over a $1 billion at the box office. It’s a money-making machine, so why wouldn’t Reynolds film another one?
His kids.
He shares a total of four kids with his wife, Blake Lively, and they’re all under the age of 10. During a recent interview for Variety’s ‘Actors on Actors‘ series, the 48-year-old actor revealed making the films just takes up too much of his time.
It had been six years since the last one and part of the reason is that it swallows my whole life. You can’t take your hand off the stick all the way through development, through postproduction into marketing and promo. I don’t ever want to be an absentee, and I don’t ever want to miss stuff. I, like, kind of die inside when I see their face and they have a competition or they have a sports thing or something and I missed it.
You have to respect that. Making a big action blockbuster with Marvel attached is such a big commitment. After all, the budget for these movies are north of $200 million, so there’s a lot of money being thrown around.
The good news for Ryan is that even when he’s not around, his kids still have a lot of support. In fact, their godmother is none other than Taylor Swift.
Yeah, that is kind of it. She is the godparent to my daughters. That was very sweet. Not just sweet, that was, like, you could probably quantify a box office based on Taylor just doing something like that.
