Angelina Jolie can’t hide her pain from her children. The 49-year-old actress talked to the BBC about her new film, Maria, which is a biopic about famed opera singer, Maria Callas.
Jolie revealed that her eldest sons Maddox, 23, and Pax, 21, worked as production assistants on the movie. It was an interesting experience for them because they saw their mother expressing pain in a new way.
They’ve seen me go through a lot of things, but they hadn’t experienced me expressing a lot of the pain that usually a parent hides from a child. It was a new way of being honest with my kids about my feelings.
During a previous interview, she talked about she’d typically try to save all her crying and sadness for the shower.
That was probably one of the more intense things was that — usually when I’m expressing that much pain, it’s not in front of my children. You really try to hide from your children how much pain and sadness you carry. That’s usually for the shower.
In addition to Maddox and Pax, Jolie shares Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16, with her ex-husband Brad Pitt.
Sadly, an insider earlier this year revealed Pitt doesn’t have much of a relationship with his children.
