Billy Ray Cyrus faced some criticism and concern for his Liberty Ball performance honoring Donald Trump. Videos of his performance from the inaugural event went viral.
He had technical difficulties during his set and also showed some odd behavior. At one point, he just started talking his lyrics instead of actually singing them. It was pretty painful to watch.
The performance was so concerning that his adopted son, Trace Cyrus, went on his Instagram account to write an emotional letter to his father.
He started out by talking about how cool he thought Billy Ray was when he was a kid.
I wanted to be just like you. The day you adopted me was the happiest day of my life. Sadly the man that I wanted so desperately to be just like I barely recognize now.
Trace went on to talk about how it seems like the world has beaten his dad down, adding, “You may be upset with me for posting this but I couldn’t care less at this point.”
He then revealed he hasn’t talked to Billy in a long time, but he hopes that changes soon…
