Most people put their kids above anyone and anything else, and we certainly don’t blame them. It’s what you’re supposed to do as a parent.
But Ayesha Curry and NBA star Steph Curry have a slightly different approach. During an interview with PEOPLE, Ayesha talked about how they balance their busy schedules with being parents to four kids: Riley, 12, Ryan, 9, Canon, 6, and 9-month-old Caius.
I think for us, our relationship always comes first. Then we’re parents. And that works for us because then you have two happy people raising the kids in the house. So the family sector in our lives always comes first.
It makes sense, right? How can you be the best parent if you’re not happy with your home life? Sometimes parents will sacrifice their own happiness/sanity for their kids, but your kids see that! They know when you’re not happy.
So prioritizing your happiness and your relationship makes a lot of sense.
In addition to making sure their relationship is good, Ayesha says another important thing is making sure they have the right people in their corner…
And then honestly, it’s just surrounding ourselves with people that are smarter than us and know what they’re doing and can make the things run. And they allow us the space to be creative and they allow us the space to truly show up however we choose to. And I think that’s what’s really worked for us.
Sounds like they have it locked down!
