Reese Witherspoon is the proud mother of three children. It’s the thing she’s most proud of in life, which is saying a lot because she’s had a legendary career in Hollywood.
In a recent Instagram Story, the 48-year-old actress talked about how she was recently visiting with a friend and her two sons, 21-year-old Deacon and 12-year-old Tennessee.
While eating dinner, the friend asked Reese’s sons if there was one lesson they will always remember that their mom taught them. Reese revealed that one of her sons replied that their mom would always tell them if they were given “the choice to be normal or the choice to be weird,” they should always choose weird.
With her hand on her chest, Witherspoon gushed that it ‘filled my heart with the deepest joy that he learned that from me.’ She added, ‘It just meant so much to me that my kids know it’s okay to be different and that it can actually end up being their superpower.’
She says she was inspired to share this story after reading a quote from White Lotus star Aimee Lou Wood, who told The Hollywood Reporter, “I spent a lot of my life worrying about being weird, and now I’m realizing it could be my superpower.”
Yes! We love to hear it. Be weird. Well, more importantly, be you. Don’t try to be weird. You should only ever try to be yourself, and if yourself is a little weird, own it!
We’re all a little weird.
