Gabourey Sidibe, perhaps best known for her starring role in the 2009 film, Precious, has a new Lifetime movie premiering this weekend.
This means she’s been doing some interviews to promote the film, which is titled, Give Me Back My Daughter.
During a recent interview with PEOPLE, the 41-year-old actress talked a little about her 11-month-old twins, Cooper and Maya. She said she’s super protective of them and wants them to live a normal life.
And she’s really committed to making the “normal” life happen…
Everyone was like, ‘Oh, do you let them watch you on TV?’ And I’m like, ‘First of all, my babies don’t have screen time,’ Secondly, I’m just simply going to lie to them as long as I can about what I do for a living. I’m going to tell them I’m a teacher, and also, our household is very normal.
Good on her for not letting her babies have screen time! Experts say your kid shouldn’t have access to a screen until the age of two, and even then, it should be limited to under an hour a day.
Despite not wanting her kids to know she’s a famous actress, Sidibe does still occasionally post about them on her Instagram, which she finds to be an odd experience…
It’s so odd because despite what I do for a living, I’m actually a normal person. And so, sometimes I’ll post a video or something of my kids from the place of being a normal person, and then all of a sudden it’s like a thousand comments and I’m like, ‘Oh, I’m overwhelmed. No, thank you.’
