Lovable comedian Wanda Sykes is a proud momma to twins Olivia Lou and Lucas Claude. They’re about to turn 16, and according to her, they only want one gift.
The 61-year-old star was on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert this past week when she revealed her twins texted her asking for an “Instagram account” for their sweet sixteen.
Colbert pointed out that it’s a free gift, but Wanda was not about it.
Do you know what the hell is on Instagram? It could suck all the life out of them. They’re really good kids right now. They’re smart, social. They’re polite. They’re good kids. I’m nervous they get on Instagram [and] next thing you know, my son … He turns into a little Proud Boy, and I’ve got to throw him out.
Those are honestly all valid concerns. Social media can ruin people, although, if you set your kid up for success, they probably won’t become a Proud Boy overnight.
Wanda admitted she uses social media, but she made it clear it’s only for her work. “I’m not one of those, ‘Ooh, I’ve got to post. Ooh, let me show you what I ate,'” she joked.
For those who don’t know, Wanda shares her twins with her wife, Alex Sykes. They’ve been married since 2008 and are very much still in love.
