‘Frasier‘ star Kelsey Grammer has a total of seven children. That’s right, he’s been busy! There’s a big age gap between his children though.
The 70-year-old actor has three kids with his wife, Kayte Walsh: daughter Faith, 12, and sons Gabriel, 10, and James, 8. He’s also the father of daughters Spencer, 41, Greer, 33, and Mason, 23, and son Jude, 20, from past relationships.
So his oldest kid is 41 and his youngest is 8. You can imagine the different versions they got of their dad, and Kelsey seems to recognize that.
During an interview with PEOPLE, Grammer admitted he’s playing catch up with his older kids…
I have neglected a couple of the kids in my life, especially the first two. I’m trying to make up for a little of it now. I’m still their dad, so you can always have [a] chance to show up.
It’s better to recognize this now than later! I’m sure they’re willing to forgive him, especially if he’s honest with his apologies.
Looking back at his parenting technique, he also believes he should have been a little less tolerant with his older children…
I probably should have been a little more clear and maybe less tolerant with the older ones. I’m pretty tolerant with the young ones, but I’m clear about how there’s certain expectations and certain ways to navigate through a social situation: keep it close to the vest and play it straight, and you’re going to be well-served in your life. I’m a little more specific with them about doing their studies and being prepared.
With age comes wisdom!
