Earlier this year, Jennifer Lawrence became a mom of two, and now just a few months later, the 34-year-old actress is at the Cannes Film Festival to promote her new movie, Die, My Love.
In the movie, Lawrence places a mom who develops postpartum depression and enters psychosis. J-Law says she could relate to her character because when the movie was being filmed, she had just went through postpartum with her first-born.
I had just had my firstborn, and there’s not really anything like postpartum. It’s extremely isolating, which is so interesting. But the truth is, extreme anxiety and extreme depression is isolating, no matter where you are. You feel like an alien.
By the middle of filming the movie, Lawrence was pregnant with her second child.
It changes your whole life. It’s brutal and incredible. So not only do they go into every decision of if I’m working, where I’m working, when I’m working, they’ve taught me — I mean, I didn’t know that I could feel so much and my job has a lot to do with emotion.
And get this, she says she highly recommends having kids if you’re an actor, because it makes you better creatively, due to the fact that you feel much more emotionally connected to the world without you.
So there you have it. Forget acting class… get pregnant!
